A great third book of the Lunar Chronicles series. Lots of good action, great characters, and a great ending. Cress starts as a sheltered, somewhat naive girl who grows into a major thorn for Queen Lavana. While the book is about Cress, there is plenty of story for Cinder, Wolf,… Read more »

Review of Tiamat’s Wrath (The Expanse)
This book was non-stop action that is a ton better than the previous books. The stakes are so much higher, and it really sets things up well for the ninth book. The whole Lanconian plot really advances forward and we’re back dealing with the Expanse and it’s mysteries.
Review of Resolution of the Marked
This fourth and final book of the Marked series is amazing, and really a step up from the prior book. The action is pretty intense, the characters are strong and varied, and Qaede deepens his evil and depravity. I never really felt myself get bored and I was always wondering… Read more »
Review of The Woodcutter
This book is about The Woodcutter, a being whose job is to watch over the woods and keep the peace between fae and mortals. The book borrowed a lot of material from various fairy tales (Snow White, Red Riding Hood, etc.). The Woodcutter himself was a very noble character and… Read more »
Review of Iron Garland (Harbinger)
This series continues to amaze, and the third installment is no exception. There is plenty of action, more unraveling of mysteries, and a great look at the world of King Fountain. In addition, the true enemy of the empire is revealed, and Sera finally gains her freedom. I really liked… Read more »
Review of Storm Glass
This is another entertaining and satisfying series by Jeff Wheeler. It follows two young girls in difficult circumstances (one from the streets, one from royalty) destined to be great people, in a magical world (the same one as Muirwood in fact). The main characters are both interesting and well-developed. Cettie… Read more »
Review of Walk Through Fire
This is a story about Shea, a girl barely living in a post-apocalyptic world. One day, when she is almost a captured, a girl appears to her and tells her she has a mission from God and sends her to a cult compound which she must destroy. I found the… Read more »
Review of Blackfish City
I read the first 20% and nothing happened..I could not get into this nor did I care anything about the characters
Review of Becoming the Beast
This prequel novella was available exclusively from the R.S. McCoy newsletter. It tells the story of how Kaide rose to be vice syndicate , how he received his totem, and more. A great short story to read after finishing the main books.
Review of This Long Vigil
This is a short story about a caretaker of an ARK ship who is the only one awake to help maintain the ship under direction of the ship’s AI. It is almost time for Orion to go back to sleep and he has some major reservations about that. It is… Read more »
Review of The Circuit: The Complete Saga
This series had a really slow start. Initially it just covers the somewhat villains of the story, Cassius and ADIM. I didn’t find much to like about them and didn’t care about them at all. Eventually the story introduces more likable characters like Talon and Sage, and the story finally… Read more »
Review of The Battle of Hackham Heath (Ranger’s Apprentice)
This book is another great book in the Ranger’s Apprentice series that deals with the early years when Crowley and Halt first started. It keeps up the same great level of writing as the other books and again has a great overarching event covering the book (in this case, Morgaraths… Read more »
Review of The Swampling King by Ben Dobson
This book kept my attention and was a good page turner, but it was really, really, really long. The main characters (Zerill and Josen) are well done and very deep, but I could have used a bit more back story on both. The world building was pretty imaginative, but there… Read more »
Review of The Flaw in All Magic
This is a murder mystery set in a world of magic where the main investigator is someone who can’t use magic. The premise is rather unique, and the plot moves fairly well to resolution. There is a nice relationship between Tane and his helper, and a few friendships, but ultimately… Read more »
Review of The Lamentation of the Marked
Overall I did enjoy this book but it took a long time to get through. The book was just so long, and it was very, very hard to keep track of all the characters. It seemed to be missing some of the fun from the previous books. Most of the… Read more »
Review of True Calling
In this book, humanity has been decimated and the best and brightest are relocated to a new artificial planet called Novo. There they must deal with a totalitarian government that wipes their memories and controls every aspect of their life. Ariana is forced to participate in a government-sponsored matchmaking show… Read more »
Review of OUTSIDE
In OUTSIDE, Riley lives in a walled compound in post-apocalyptic Britain. One day her sister gets murdered, and Riley sets out across the country to find the killer. One thing that I didn’t like with the novel is how it jumps between present day Riley and past girl Eleanor (who is connected… Read more »
Review of Seeds of Foreverland
This short story follows the childhood of Harold, the main villain in the Annihilation of Foreverland. It is a great little novella showing the messed-up mind of a psychopath, and the back story to how the virtual world/brain technology was created. It was a good page-turner.
Review of Foreverland is Dead
In this Second novel of Foreverland, a bunch of girls wake up in a camp with no memory of their past, and no adults around to help them. This follows the aftermath of the destruction of Foreverland and what happened to the girls from that novel. Overall I found the… Read more »
Review of The Annihilation of Foreverland
This is an interesting story about teens with no memory who are forced to enter into a virtual reality world. There is a lot of great mystery here and ultimately the big reveal is quite neat. Not to mention that one of the main characters is not entirely who she… Read more »
