THE UPRISING HAS BEGUN.
It's been seven days since Clementine and Logan, along with their allies, retreated into hiding on the Surface. The rebels may have won one battle against Commander Charlie, but the fight is far from finished. He has vowed to find a way to win—no matter the cost. Do the rebels have what it takes to defeat him...and put an end to this war?
As Clementine and Logan enter a desperate race against time to defeat Commander Charlie—and attempt to weaken his power within his own ranks—they find themselves in a terrifying endgame that pits them against a brutal enemy, and each other. With every step, Clementine draws closer to losing Logan...and losing control of herself.
Continuing with the mesmerizing saga that started with Extraction, Stephanie Diaz blends science fiction, epic romance, and heart-stopping adventure to create a world that no reader will soon forget.
Review
In Rebellion, Clementine must try to stop Commander Charlie’s plans to destroy the alien threat at the cost of thousands of lives. She joins the rebels but soon learns there is nowhere she can hide from Charlie and his own plans for her.
This book is very much in the style of the first and is just a really fun ride. Clementine is as ever fiesty and cunning and always planning to thwart Charlie and the core. And yet there is much realism here.. Clementine doesn’t always have perfect luck and she ends up in the enemies hands several times through the story. And so that was very interesting to see her really have to face true challenges when her luck runs out. Another neat thing about this book is that the reader is constantly questioning the loyalty of various characters….even ones who you think are solid as a rock.
I don’t have too many faults with this book. I thought the mind control stuff was a bit far-fetched, but it worked well to cause tension and some turmoil in the characters. And the ending is very much a cliff hanger.
But overall I really enjoyed this book. It was a great adventure and a good page turner, and one I didn’t want to put down. I am so looking forward to the next book to see what happens next.
