When kids awake on an island, they’re told there was an accident. Before they can go home, they will visit Foreverland, an alternate reality that will heal their minds.
Reed dreams of a girl that tells him to resist Foreverland. He doesn’t remember her name, but knows he once loved her. He’ll have to endure great suffering and trust his dream. And trust he’s not insane.
Danny Boy, the new arrival, meets Reed’s dream girl inside Foreverland. She’s stuck in the fantasy land that no kid can resist. Where every heart’s desire is satisfied. Why should anyone care how Foreverland works?
This is an interesting story about teens with no memory who are forced to enter into a virtual reality world.
There is a lot of great mystery here and ultimately the big reveal is quite neat. Not to mention that one of the main characters is not entirely who she seems at first. Danny Boy is quite well developed, despite not knowing his past, as are a few of the other boys. Others aren’t developed much, nor are their sponsors. Ultimately the story didn’t need them to be, but it would have been a bit richer if they had been. In the end, I didn’t care anything about them or their fate. The pace in this book was well done and it was a great page turner for me. I was able to read it quickly and it was a lot of fun. I’m looking forward to continuing the series.
